Academic Research Symposium to provide insight into latest research, best practices

The annual gathering, co-located with CSCMP EDGE, is designed to bring together practitioners and academics.

Supply chain professionals, researchers, and educators are gearing up for a dynamic exchange of ideas at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals' annual Academic Research Symposium (ARS). Set to take place during the EDGE conference, this 1.5-day event promises to delve into cutting-edge research and educational advancements.

Kicking off on September 28, the ARS will feature multiple breakout tracks, focusing on research methodology, artificial intelligence (AI) and other technological innovations in the supply chain, sustainability, and pedagogical best practices. 


Attendees can look forward to:

  • The Journal of Business Logistics (JBL) annual meeting at 1 p.m.,
  • A practitioner and theory panel from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.,
  • Academic workshop from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and
  • “Meet the Academics” Reception from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

September 29 begins at 9 a.m. with welcome remarks, followed by a series of concurrent sessions, including research presentations and poster sessions. Highlights include:

  • Doctoral Dissertation Award presentation and lunch from noon to 1 p.m.
  • Special interest group (SIG) roundtables from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
  • Presentation of the Plowman Award and the Bernard J. LaLonde Best Paper Award and closing remarks from 4:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

The winter peak season hiring boom has begun, as logistics service provider (LSP) Geodis said Thursday that it plans to hire 3,700 seasonal workers across its warehouses and distribution centers in the U.S. and Canada to help manage the expected rise in volumes.
