Back again: Second Annual 3 V’s Innovation Awards Contest

For the second year in a row, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), Supply Chain Xchange, and supply chain visionary Art Mesher will be encouraging and recognizing the spirit of innovation within the supply chain community through the “Annual 3 V’s Innovation Award Contest.”

In the late 1990s, Art Mesher—at the time a Gartner analyst—wanted to push supply chain organizations to be more innovative and look beyond mere cost reduction. He proposed that there were three keys (or “V”s) to creating an innovative supply chain: improving visibility, reducing variability, and increasing velocity. This framework became known as “The 3 V’s of Supply Chain,” and it is as relevant and needed today as it was back then. 

The 3 V’s Innovation Awards Contest continues to honor Mesher’s legacy by spotlighting companies that have done a superior job of implementing the 3 V’s in the real world. The recognized companies will have created products, services, and/or concepts that are advancing the field of supply chain management. The contest consists of two awards. The “3 V’s Business Innovation Award” recognizes more established businesses, and the “Best Overall Innovative Startup/Early Stage Award” recognizes newer companies. 

Initial entries for the 2024 awards have already been received and are currently being evaluated. The top three finalists for each award will present their innovations in a fast-paced “elevator pitch” at the CSCMP EDGE Conference in the Supply Chain Exchange Innovation Theater on September 30. The presentations will be hosted live by Rick Blasgen, former president and CEO of CSCMP, and Art Mesher and will be judged by a panel of industry experts. 

As we look forward to this year’s event, we also celebrate the 2023 winners who set a high standard for innovation in the supply chain industry:

• 2023 3 V’s Business Innovation Award:} Local Line, Cole Jones, CEO
• 2023 Best Overall Innovative Startup/Early Stage Award:} Isometric Technologies, founded by Brian Cristol, CEO, and John Stauffer, COO
• Special Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Award:} Strella, Katherine Sizov, CEO and co-founder
