The National Shippers Strategic Transportation Council (NASSTRAC) is hosting "The Shippers Voice: NASSTRAC Spring Meeting 2019" at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. on June 10-11. The two-day conference will focus on how regulatory and legislative issues affect supply chains and transportation operations.
The event features one full day of education sessions covering topical issues affecting transportation. Those session topics range from how the recent tariffs can impact companies' supply chains to why shippers should care about current and future transportation regulatory and legislative issues. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet and interact with presenters who are working to promote transportation productivity issues and moderate federal involvement in shipper operations.
The keynote speaker will be Bob Costello, chief economist for the American Trucking Associations (ATA). He manages the collection, analysis, and dissemination of ATA's economic information.
On the second day, participants will spend time on Capitol Hill, meeting with congressional representatives to share their views on highway infrastructure funding, the Twin 33 initiative (a policy change that would allow twin trailers of 33 feet, or "twin 33s," to operate on highways in all 50 states), the National Motor Carrier hiring standard, meal and rest break state regulations, and proposed changes to hours of service.
CSCMP-NASSTRAC joint members are eligible to attend the event at the NASSTRC member price of US$495. In early 2018, NASSTRAC formed an alliance with CSCMP. Both industry organizations are now working together to educate, research, and advocate for their members through networking events and conferences.
