Transplace Honored With EPA 2018 SmartWay Excellence Award

Logistics Provider Recognized as an Industry Leader for Environmental Performance, Commitment to Advancing SmartWay Partnership

October 2, 2018 (Dallas, TX) - Transplace, a leading provider of transportation management services and logistics technology solutions, today announced it was honored with a SmartWay® Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as an industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency. This was the fourth time Transplace has been recognized for its contributions to protect the environment through its participation in the SmartWay Transport Partnership.

"Transplace's prime objective is to add value to our customers, and SmartWay enables us to further enhance shippers' networks and support the sustainability initiatives that are important to our customers, carrier partners, employees and community," said Frank McGuigan, CEO, Transplace. "Receiving this award for the fourth time is a testament to Transplace's commitment to environmentally-responsible operations."

The EPA's SmartWay Transport Partnership is a market-driven initiative that empowers businesses to move goods in the cleanest, most energy-efficient way possible to protect public health by reducing harmful air emissions. The annual SmartWay Excellence Award honors top shipping and logistics company partners for superior environmental performance and additional actions to reduce freight emissions through effective collaboration, operational practices, a robust system for validating and reporting their SmartWay data, and communications and public outreach.

Transplace was one of 14 companies to receive this distinction, representing the best environmental performers of SmartWay's 3,700 partners. The Excellence Awardees were honored at the 2018 Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) Conference in Nashville, TN on October 1, 2018.

As part of its commitment to supporting SmartWay and positively impacting the environment, Transplace has made the partnership a key part of its carrier selection process, and Transplace also assists shippers and carriers to join the SmartWay program and monitor and submit emissions performance data.

Transplace Senior Vice President of Engineering & Procurement Ben Cubitt added, "Participation in SmartWay is a great way for Transplace to work with both shippers and carriers to reduce miles, improve freight efficiency, consolidate shipments and demonstrate our commitment to environmentally responsible and sustainable supply chain execution. That is why we have made SmartWay a key component of our carrier selection process and incorporated it into transportation optimization practices such as mode conversion, continuous moves, and collaborative multi-shipper network initiatives."
